The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has recently released data indicating a significant surge in the import of smartphones within Pakistan, marking a substantial increase over the previous fiscal year.
During the first nine months of the financial year, smartphone imports have soared to an impressive Rs370 billion, reflecting a remarkable 180% surge compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. This notable increase highlights a burgeoning trend in consumer behavior and technological preferences within the country.
The report further elaborates on the import expenditure incurred on smart mobile phones from July to March, totaling $1.30 billion. In contrast, the import figures for the same period in the preceding year amounted to Rs106 billion or $460 million. Such a substantial rise in import expenditure underscores the evolving landscape of technology consumption in Pakistan.
