Pakistan’s imports from India have risen for the fourth consecutive time in the first eight months of the current government. In October 2024, imports surged by 46% year-on-year, totaling $35.8 million, compared to $24.5 million in the same period last year.
This follows similar increases of 45% in September and 5% in August. Although trade was suspended in August 2019 following India’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status, Pakistan later relaxed restrictions, allowing the import of life-saving medicines.
This development coincides with India’s refusal to allow its cricket team to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, despite Pakistan’s assurances to address any concerns.
