President Asif Ali Zardari awarded a Rs100 million cheque to Karate champion Shahzaib Rindh at Aiwan-e-Sadr in recognition of his historic victory in a global competition.
Rindh, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, made headlines last month by winning the Karate Combat Championship (KC-49) in Singapore, becoming Pakistan's first-ever world champion in the sport. He triumphed over Brazil’s Bruno Roberto De Assis in the final. The 26-year-old from Balochistan expressed that it was a "dream come true" in a heartfelt post on Social Media.
Upon his return, he received a warm welcome at Quetta airport from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and fans. President Zardari emphasized the importance of nurturing youth talent in sports.
