Pakistan experienced internet slowdowns nationwide, primarily due to overloading, further exacerbated by the ongoing upgrade of the country's Web Management System, or "internet firewall". This upgrade aims to enhance the system's capacity to handle up to 9 terabytes of internet traffic. However, the process has resulted in low bandwidth, causing disruptions.
Reports of internet and social media disruptions are received from various cities, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. Netblocks reported WhatsApp service disruptions in these areas over the past 24 hours.
