Bakhat Muhammad, a chaiwala (tea seller) from Soldier Bazar Karachi, Pakistan, achieved victory in the Fight Night event in Tehran, Iran. Despite his success, he voiced disappointment at the lack of government support for sports in the country.
Muhammad, who learned MMA from Proficient Academy Karachi in 2019, had his debut international bout in Khost, Afghanistan, in August 2021, where he defeated Ibrahim Muhammadi (65 kg) in an event named Khatri Fight Night (KFN), organized by the Afghan government.
He also participated in the Asian Fight Night in Peshawar, winning against Umer in the 65-kg category. His recent triumph in Fight Night against Qasim Rahemi earned him a title.
Despite his local and international success, Muhammad faces challenges in securing sponsorship for international competitions, often having to seek individual support.
He stressed the importance of raising awareness about MMA in Pakistan to attract sponsors, as it remains a less recognized sport. Despite sponsorship challenges, Muhammad has found support from local businessmen and clubs for his competitions.
