Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Dr Umar Saif, has set an ambitious target of achieving $5 billion in IT exports within the next five years.
He announced a 3% research and development (R&D) incentive for the local handset manufacturing industry to boost high-end smartphone production in Pakistan.
Dr Saif highlighted the significance of the telecom sector for Pakistan's economic development and emphasized efforts to increase the export of locally manufactured smartphones, with a notable 32% increase in IT exports over the last two months.
Pakistan has granted licenses to 35 companies assembling smartphones for various brands, and plans are underway to formulate a policy for manufacturing complete mobile phones, starting with producing some parts locally.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman, Major General (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, assured full support to the telecom industry and discussed ongoing efforts to support the export of mobile phones manufactured in Pakistan. He also disclosed the formation of an advisory committee for the launch of 5G technology.

I can see the digital flow in Pakistan which i think possible to achieve this target in the next 5 years.
