Iraq has agreed to buy 12 JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets from Pakistan in a $664 million deal. This is the fifth country to purchase the JF-17, after Malaysia, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, and Myanmar. The JF-17 is a multirole fighter jet that is jointly developed by Pakistan and China.
The Iraqi government has approved the outlay for the purchase of the jets, which are expected to be delivered in the next two years. The jets will be used to bolster the Iraqi Air Force's capabilities against drones and other threats.
The deal is the biggest defense agreement between Pakistan and Iraq in about 40 years. It is a sign of the growing cooperation between the two countries
