The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has directed Is-ràèl to take measures to prevent acts of gèñ_ócídè against Pàles-tìnìàns and to do more to aid civilians. However, the court did not issue a céàse_fire order, as requested by South Africa. The ruling is seen as a legal setback for Is-ràèl, which sought to dismiss the case brought under the gèñ_ócídè convention. The ICJ acknowledged that Pàles-tìnìàns are protected under the convention and that there is a case to be heard regarding potential viol*ations of their rights in the ongoing con*flict.
